General Guidelines
Threads & Roleplays PG-Marking Club-Specific Roleplays God Moding Late Application's Post Value Bribary Advanced Clause OOC-Only Posts ------------------------------------------------------------------- General Guidelines This Roleplaying forum is specifically for the people of The Better YCM and all the members on it. If any member breaks the guidelines posted here in this thread then REPORT them and a member of staff will deal with them. Threads & Roleplays Your Roleplay only needs to be posted in one thread, you do not need a sign-up thread or anything like that as it is a waste of time and will just be locked. You neither have to make a new thread for when your Roleplay reaches a diffrent 'part'. Only when your Roleplay is finished - usually fulfilling some sort of goal - and you want to create a new Roleplay that links in with the completed one, in other words a sequal. Aslong as the new one has little relevance to the old one, it will be considered a diffrent Roleplay. Any single RP must contain the most important things; first, a synopsis and application form in the first post. Any posts that have OUT OF CHARACTER (OOC) must also include IN CHARACTER (IC) as well, however more specific talk regarding questions or applications can be sent by PRIVATE MESSAGE (PM) to the RP host. OOC posts will be accepted for Bumps of threads and any announcements made by the RP host. All applications must work in a "accept" or and "decline" basis if Non-Club Related. If you want to add an explanation to your choice, please do so. A member can host as many RP's as he/she wishes, but be responsible. Only host as many as you can handle. PG-Marking Not all RP's are suitible for members due to diffrent ages. Therefore, when you post a RP, put one of these tags in your title to let members know of what age its suitible for. [PG-13] If your RP contains mild swearing, a degree of graphical violence or/and mild sexual content; it is better placed as PG-13. [PG-16] If your RP includes harsh language, strong graphical violence or/and a higher degree of sexual content; it is better placed as PG-16. [M] M-rated roleplays. This includes harsh language, gore, strong graphical violence or/and extreme sexual content; are not suitible for The Better YCM. If you have a diffrent opinion, please PM a member of staff. Club-Specific Roleplays Club-Specific RP's, meaning that only members of a certian club can join the RP, are accepted on this forum. Apart from all the other guidelines, Club-Specific RP's have one very important rule: A club can only host one Club-Specific RP at a time. This is to promote open RP's. God Moding God Moding is when, for short, when a member of a RP does something he/she isn't allowed to do. This might include: Controlling other members characters; given that they don't have permission. Controlling NPC's, characters cotrolled by the host unless NPC's have been placed for everyone. Controlling battle, rendering yourself invincible against others attacks and one-shotting all your opponents. Unless it has been agreed with the other members. Have amazing luck. Creating NPC's to improve your characters own strength. Late Application's If you wish to join a RP after it has started, it is advised to PM your Application to the RP host instead of posting it on the thread, as this seems to annoy people and is counted as spamming. Post Value To improve the overall feeling of the RP you are in, try to make your post worth as much as possible. Add more description to your surroundings and describe how the world moves past you as you walk by (without conflicting with guideline 6). Write so that anyone can understand you when they read and elaborate on your post. NOTE: This isn't needed in most cases. In other words you don't have to do it all the time, but it would be more 'fun' is the term that could be used in the RP. Bribary Roleplay hosts may not advertise their roleplays by means of bribary. This includes paying reputations, points, or other things to roleplayers for joining their roleplays. Signatures however may be used to advertise your roleplay instead, this is because many members will take when things are given. Advanced Clause For those of you who find yourselfs as experianced RPer's and feel as if the one-line posters are getting too annoying then you can create an Advanced RP. Here is how an Advanced RP works: Atleast a paragraph per post (3 lines minimum). proper dialouge (no script posts e.g. Tyler: Im over here Matt!). No copy and paste characters (Using the same character over and over again from diffrent RP's, unless it is in link with a previous and you need the same character). No OOC-Only Posts. For this, you must put an [Advanced] tag in your RP title. If you don't want to follow these rules, put an [Basic] tag in your RP title. When you do this, the above Advanced rules do not apply, except for the non-OOC only posts. OOC-Only Posts Here is more detail on OOC-Only Posts. The reason it is not allowed for OOC-Only Posts is because many people from the original YCM used OOC as a way to chat about things that were completely irelevant to the RP at hand. This also counting as Spamming. A RP shall be given a warning if a member of staff finds that people are OOC-Only Posting. If the member of staff sees this again, the RP shall be locked; no buts. OOC posting is only accepted in these circumstances: Application post Announcements by the RP Host. Notification of Departure from RP. Anything else is extremely prohibited. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Those are the RP Guidelines. Hopefully this should be updated every year if something new comes along. Thankyou for your time, please PM me or a member of staff for any questions. ~ Soul Legacy They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. RE: Roleplaying Guidelines ~2009~
Eh, I'm not a big fan of this being mostly copied from YCM, but I'll sticky it, until we get better.

RE: Roleplaying Guidelines ~2009~
Well, this does get updated every year. I think we should go by this for now until someone has a diffrent opinion, then we'll make it diffrent from YCM.

RE: Roleplaying Guidelines ~2009~
Must of this is common sense when it comes to RP, depending on the standard that you want of your RP then some type of invisible rules come into play. You know what I mean when it comes to invisible rules just common sense in RPs.

Not a big fan over the fact that this was just taken directly from YCM, but then again, there's not much to change. ;/
